National League - September 2009
After 18 months of planning, building the club and making sure we had the right resources, we finally commenced our campaign in the Wheelchair Football Association National League.
The original plan for the club was to join the league in 2010, but after some thought and with a view to getting the team into a competitive spirit we decided to bite the bullet and trek off to Kettering.
We had previously played other teams from higher leagues but nothing was going to match playing properly in a competitive league environment... and what a baptism of fire we had
Our first game was against Evergreen who are an offshoot of Premier league team Aspire and after a 16 - 0 drubbing the team finally learnt what it was like for real.
Credit has to be given to the management team for rallying the forlorn players at the end of the game, but even more credit has to be given to all of the players them self who picked themselves up and turned in creditable performances in the following games of the weekend.
Sadly we left Kettering without a win under our belts but the experience served the team well and gave us all an improved focus on what we are trying to achieve.
So we now look forward to the futre knowing what we need to do, and how to do it well.
